Tuesday Social Mixer

FEBRUARY 17 – Lake Tahoe Pride has hosted a mixer nearly every week for almost three and a half years. We have cancelled or deviated from this schedule only a handful of times, and this week will be one of them.

As of midday Monday it has just started snowing, but the forecast still predicts a lot more, especially on Tuesday. With the tourist influx for the holiday weekend and the potential inclement weather things could get messy; we would likely have to make a day-of call about the mixer that we don’t want to have to make. Stay home or venture out as you see fit this week.

We know that some folks may be disappointed not to have a Lake Tahoe Pride event this week, especially if the weather turns out fine. If that’s the case for you, we warmly encourage you to…

… take a moment to reflect on the value of the queer community we enjoy here weekly in the mountains. Not every town our size, in a location like ours, has such a friendly, diverse group with such frequent social events. We who organize Lake Tahoe Pride events at least think it’s pretty amazing!

… think about whether you know someone you could invite to check out our group at a future mixer, when we really hope to be back—although there is a lot of snow forecasted for that day too, so stay tuned!

…consider the ways that you can support Lake Tahoe Pride today.

…explore options for serving LGBTQIA+ community members outside of our fortunate area. The Trevor Project, for example, is a fantastic place to donate or volunteer.

Nearly every week, Lake Tahoe Pride hosts a social mixer at a restaurant, brewery, bar, beach, or other welcoming venue around town. Our diverse weekly mixers are a way for LGBTQIA+ people above 6,000 feet to build community and find a bright spot in the week.

We hope to see you Tuesday, March 24th, weather permitting!
